![]() In such cases, the DVD playback software will then ask if you want to change the region code to this new DVD region so you can play back this DVD.Īs you are aware, you only get 4 or 5 changes before the DVD drive firmware will not allow the region code to be changed any longer at which point you are stuck with whatever the last region code was set to. Once the region code is set, if you insert a DVD from another region into your drive, the playback software will detect that the region (which is saved within the drive firmware as mentioned) is incorrect for this specific disk. Also, reinstalling the OS will have no direct impact on the DVD drive's region setting since it's the application that controls this setting (which was saved to the DVD drive's firmware) rather than the OS (control panel/OS region setting). The DVD region code, when set, is saved within the DVD player firmware and thus the region setting will follow the drive (if you move it to another machine). The region is set automatically so why isn't the DVD player set too. Why isn’t this DVD player set to US already. If I let the dvd player change this then I will only have only 4 more times I can change this. When I put the DVD in it says the region is a mismatch and it wants to change it to us/canada. In the region area of the control panel under location it says US, under formats it’s set to US and administrative it says current language for non-unicode programs: English (United States). It should be on US/Canada or something like this. Right now it’s set to not selected in the device manager. The one that says Remove everything and reinstall windows. I did a complete reinstall of the os after win 10 was running slow so I rolled it back to get back to win 8.1 and then I did a complete reinstall of win 8.1 the second option on the computer. I can’t remember if I played it when I got this laptop in September of 2014. I have win 8.1 and today I tried to watch my movie that I’ve had for years. ![]() Why isn’t my cyberlink DVD Drive set automatically to a region like vista or xp was. ![]()
